What is Signed English?

SE is a specialised system of signing based on BSL with the addition of standardised markers (to indicate inflections, plurals, tenses) and generated signs, together with finger spelling to reproduce as accurately as possible the grammatical components of English.

It is designed to be used as an aid to teaching English to deaf children. It has been found very useful for teachers and therapists working with children with language disorders. It is not a language in itself and is not intended for general, spontaneous communication.
